Joseph Kalichstein has been electrifying audiences in the United States and Europe since he won the highly-coveted Leventritt Award in 1969, unanimously given to him by a jury headed by George Szell, Rudolf Serkin and William Steinberg._x000D_
Born in Tel Aviv in 1946, Mr. Kalichstein came to the United States in 1962. His principal teachers included Joshua Shor, Edward Steuermann, and Ilona Kabos at the Juilliard School._x000D_
Mr. Kalichstein has made his mark as a soloist with orchestra in an unusually wide variety of concerti ranging from Beethoven and Brahms to the 20th-century works of Bartok, Prokofiev and others. He has appeared with a host of internationally prominent conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Pierre Boulez, James Conlon, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Charles Dutoit, Lawrence Foster, Erich Leinsdorf, Kurt Sanderling, Eduardo Mata, Zubin Mehta, Andre Previn, Gerard Schwarz, Leonard Slatkin, Edo de Waart and David Zinman._x000D_
