New Numbered Limited Edition Mini-LP-Style Packaging!_x000D_ FOUR STARS - AMG_x000D_ Contains hits: "Listen To The Music", "Rockin' Down The Highway" and "Jesus Is Just All Right"_x000D_ Billboard chartings: LP: #21 - peak, Singles: "Listen To The Music" - #11 peak, "Jesus Is Just Alright" - #35 peak _x000D_ After a decent debut in 1971 for Warner Bros. it was the Doobies second outing the following year, Toulouse Street, again under the watchful eye of producer Ted Templeman, that catapulted this northern California band into the national spotlight. The now quintet (having recently added bassist Tiran Porter) would now take their place beside the Allman Brothers, Little Feat, and the emerging Eagles as a band of all-star proportions. Doses of Southern blues, country, folk, gospel and CCR swamp grooves permeate this entire album. As word spread upon release, the entire album, pristinely captured by engineer Donn Landee, was all over radio; the infectious sing-along grooves of the singles for AM and other cuts for underground FM. Besides a majority of strong original compositions, they would never shake their influences. A nod to Chess Records with Sonny Boy Williamson's "Don't Start Me Talking" is a nice inclusion (akin to the Allman's mastery of Williamson's "One Way Out"), while a righteous 'Doobi-n-zation' of a song by Seals and Crofts(!), "Cotton Mouth" , fits right in.
